Enjoy Lerici all year round and in the middle of winter

The beautiful town of Lerici is well known in northern Italy because of its beautiful beaches. It is a summer resort that, in the warmer months, becomes second only to Rimini in terms of attendance. However, it really has beautiful beaches that are very small, in some places, but unique as landscapes.

In fact, we find the beautiful:

- Blue Venus

- Cove of San Giorgio di Lerici

- The beach of San Terenzio

- Blue Bay

- Cala Maramozza

- Fiascherino Beach

- Echo of the sea

These places that belong to the coast are found in inlets, schooners, are at the base of cliffs over the sea, or are reached by boats. As we have said, we are talking about truly unique suggestive places.

However, beautiful Lerici can be visited even in the middle of winter. It is rich in monuments and attractions where we find respectable historical centres. Of course, to visit this town, one must know where to go.

One must start from the historic centre, which is characteristic and charming, where there is the Piazza Garibaldi complete with many bars and restaurants. It overlooks the small harbour and the: Poets' Gulf.

Now, however, we turn to an imposing structure, namely the Lerici Castle Standards, which faces the sea. The structure is really very large and can be reached by three ways, namely by the lift that is placed on the Lerici quay, by the staircase that runs alongside it or by crossing the landscape and thus the old town.

Another monument that is really very characteristic, somewhat reminiscent of Renaissance and Risorgimento influences, is the tower and oratory of San Rocco. Here there is a beautiful statue of St Eramo who, according to legend, is the original patron saint of Lerici. Undoubtedly being a seaside resort, there is a beautiful promenade that even leads to the church of San Francesco and the Villa Marigola.

The mystery of the Templars and the golden butterfly

Just think that Lerici was one of the first towns to prove, through finds and excavations as well as various written testimonies, the existence of the Templars. Today it is even possible to retrace the steps of the Templars with some obligatory stops.

The path of the Templars starts directly from the Lerici castle and there is a series of stages to follow that retrace the history of these ancient mystery figures.

Another mystery that attracts many people and several Palaeolithic scholars is the phenomenon of the: golden butterfly.

This is a reflection, which arises at sunset, where light is shattered through Palaeolithic structures to show a golden butterfly on another rock face. It was man-made and has been dated, as a construction, to 6000 years before Christ. This is one of the most unusual palaeoastronomical discoveries. So much so, in fact, that the golden butterfly becomes perfect in its colouring form during the summer solstice. However, it is possible to see the phenomenon, to a lesser extent, but with the same fascination, all year round.
